RE: 50 amp service question

What you want to install is no different than a 50 amp service for a stove or dryer. The plug you want is a bit different, it's technically called a NEMA 14-50
Straight Blade Receptacle, Current Rating 50 Amps, Voltage Rating 125/250 Volts, Number of Poles 3, Number of Wires 4

RE: So many Prevosts's

We're at a park in Ohio and there are nearly a dozen Monaco Dynasty and HR Navigators surrounding us. Some sort of golf thing going on nearby apparently. Seems golf pros like MH's.

RE: Leveling Jacks

I really didn't want to say why, but here goes since you guys took your time to type your imput. I have my A parked in the front yard and it's a little low in the sand. Well, it's stuck, but not bad and I want to get it up a few inches to get a couple of boards under the tires. First time I have ever backed off my parking area. Thanks for the imputs.
I got stuck in mud last November and used the levelers to pull me out. They worked great. I was careful not to twist the frame in the process.

RE: How long can I leave a Class-A uneven?

The major problem will be running your refrigerator. Absorption type refrigerators, like those in RV's, have to be level to work. Running it in a tilted manner will keep it from working properly and perhaps even damage it.
There may be other issues, especially with the water system, but the fridge is the biggy.

RE: Country Coach Failure

One reason to buy from a coach manufacturer who uses their own chassis is that less finger pointing takes place when a component fails. If this had a Freightliner or Spartan chassis, Country Coach would be pointing fingers at the chassis manufacturer rather than simply saying it's not their fault.
One reason to buy from a manufacturer that uses a standard chassis is you'll have that manufacturer stand up for you when you've got a problem rather than just shrugging their shoulders and leaving you high and dry.

RE: Just saw an unhappy camper...

There's no lemon law for RV's, anything could be his problem. My brother had a Ford Bronco that kept having the rear window pop out. This happened at least a dozen times, smashing in the road. Each time he brought it back the dealer would try again to fix it. After 3 years and a dozen windows, he finally filed for a lemon law claim and got the truck replaced. His next Bronco was perfect. What a pain in the butt!
Some vehicles are just junk, regardless of make, model or cost. Even the best manufactures can have a bad day.

RE: Where to shop for Class A

Try oodle.com - they search out and list all ads from virtually every source.

RE: Using old gas?

Two things I'd do:
1. Check to see how much volume has been lost in the 120 gallons. If a lot, then forget it. Use it to start a big fire and have fun. If virtually nothing, then use it in the lawn mower, a cheap one only.
2. Not ever under any circumstances stick it in my expensive modern car, truck, RV, or even a 4 wheeler. Just not worth risking expensive equipment over a couple of bucks worth of old gas.
It would probably work ok in a 2 stroke but even then I'd be careful.
Old gas in a modern engine would be trouble. Hey, but it's your engine. Do as you please...

RE: Diesel Secret Energy

My brother ran his truck and a Mercedes diesel for 20 years on biodiesel until it became popular, now restaurants charge for their grease! He's back to the pump. It's a complex and messy process but it does work. The result is a better fuel than we can buy at the pump, it's cleaner, higher energy density and of course free if you can get the used grease.

RE: LazyDays News

With all the monkey motion it has,it looks like a problem down the road, or a lot of leaks.:)
They said the same thing about slide rooms when they came out. Look where we are today.
The difference is a slide room offers an increase in interior and A/C'd space, this novelty offers a reduction in interior space and an increase in exterior room. Strangely, outside space is virtually limitless and free, plus won't malfunction. I'd opt for the regular slide room and simply walk outside for extra space...

RE: Flying J alienating the RV customers!

I don't know what the big deal is, but I use FJ's all the time with our Pentagon Federal (5% off fuel) card and the regular FJ reward card and get cash price at the truck lanes all the time. I used it just last week for this purpose so unless something has changed recently, that's still the case.

RE: Fuel Efficiency Rates (MPG)

If you're worried about MPG, just slow down. We went from 6.8 to 8.7 by going from 72 to 60.
Just a suggestion, forget MPG, just enjoy your coach and have fun.

RE: 2009 Dutch Star/ 2009 HR Endeavor

I think the 2009 Dutch Star was the former Kountry Star, so you might compare that model the value of the HR model.
I don't think so!! Not from looking at the '09 Newmar brochures. Why would Newmar downgrade their best selling model?
There is no longer a Kountry Star, the former Dutch Star is now the Dutch Aire, so how those all fit into the scheme of things is up for discussion.

RE: Does anybody from the Flying J company monitor this forum.

We use the FJ truck lanes exclusively and never had any negative problems with truckers. We have had truckers come up and compliment us on our rig. Being 45 feet and over 60 with a toad, the RV lanes are usually too small for us.

If anyone is reluctant to purchase a MH on ebay - I can say its been a very favorable experience for us.
We bought ours through e-bay too! Great deal, excellent experience, private party in our case.

RE: Empty vs Loaded Ride?

Sorry Leeroy for this question.
But is this normal on some units you have to "flip a switch to fill the air bags"?
We have no switch. They fill automatically.

I think the 2009 Dutch Star was the former Kountry Star, so you might compare that model the value of the HR model.
As for resale, I wouldn't think that would be too important in 8 years. Both are great manufacturers, so you should pick the one you like the best.

A quick Google of your model turns up the Cummins ISL: 8.9L TurboDiesel I6, 400-hp as the standard engine. Looks like you're fine.

RE: 2008 American Coach Tradition

Found this repo 881 miles on the generator . All boondocking?http://www.commonwealthboatbrokers.com/gallery.asp?vID=5750
Do you mean 881.2 hours on the generator? That's nothing for a 10k diesel generator. I wouldn't even think about it.
Most likely they used it boondocking for a month or two while they were hiding from the repo man.
I don't know much about that make, but for just about the same money, you could get a 2007 MADP from Newmar.
